Mimoza Matoshi

Chief Executive

One of the founders of the organisation, Mimoza has been at the heart of ISS since 2004. During her early years in the UK, Mimoza experienced many of the barriers to integration that migrants and ethnic minority communities face. Mimoza established ISS to address these concerns. Mimoza holds a degree in Economics and a Masters in Refugee and Cultural Studies. She speaks Albanian.


Joanna Hewelt

Immigration & Employment Advisor

Joanna joined ISS team in November 2009. She has a Masters in Social Policy. Joanna is qualified as a social worker, in addition to that she can provide level 1 immigration advice.  She has extensive experience in family support work.  She can advise on immigration issues, housing, welfare benefits and employment.  She is using her experience and knowledge to help ISS service users with their integration and to empower them to success in their lives and gain full potential.

Joanna speaks Polish.

Lana Pereira

Accounts & Admin Officer

Lana's journey with ISS began in 2005, where she began as a service user. After volunteering with the charity and serving on its board as its Treasurer, Lana progressed into her current role. A qualified accountant, Lana is passionate about advocating for service users and helping them to discover the tools to be independent. She speaks Estonian and Russian.

Jennifer Khoury

ESOL School Coordinator & Senior Teacher

Jennifer is an experienced teacher and has taught in both the United Kingdom and Saudi Arabia. She takes pride in using innovative ideas and technology to bolster students' learning. Jennifer has a background in publishing and has developed teaching materials in the past. She holds a degree in Arabic and Middle Eastern Studies as well as a CELTA qualification. She speaks Arabic.


Anna Bryla 

ESOL School Administrator 

Originally from Poland. Ania has started her journey with charity since 2016. Currently proudly helping in Falcon English School development. She is passionate about people and cultures. Ania speaks Polish .

Alla Kurhanska


Originally from Ukraine, Alla first came to ISS as a service user. She then volunteered with the charity for several years before going on to become the organisation's Chair. Alla is a paramedic and previously worked for the NHS 111 and ambulance services. She enjoys challenges and speaks Polish, Spanish and Mandarin in addition to her native Ukrainian and Russian.

Valentina Ellice


Valentina holds a degree in Garment Technology and Design from Belarus. She also hold an AAT Professional Diploma in Accounting (Level 4). Having lived in Harlow since 2006, Valentina is proactive about giving back to the local community and has volunteered with many organisations in order to broaden her horizons. She enjoys working with people of diverse backgrounds.

Doreen Sangster


Doreen holds an MBA in Ethnic Minority Capacity Building. When Doreen first moved to Essex, she felt extremely isolated and travelled long distances to be surrounded by loved ones. This spurred her to work with ISS. Doreen has extensive experience of implementing national policies for local governments and communities, focusing on equality, diversity, community cohesion and faith.

Timothy Tabaaro Tumwesgire


Timothy holds a diploma in Commercial Industrial Art and Design from Uganda. When Timothy moved to Harlow, he accessed ISS' advice services and was able to secure permanent employment. His success inspired him to give back to the charity and he has undertaken several roles over the years, working with children and families. Timothy enjoys meeting new people.

Sarvamangala Jayashetty


Sarva is originally from India, where she worked as a software engineer for many years. When Sarva moved to the UK, she initially felt isolated. However, she soon began volunteering with ISS and went on to secure permanent employment. As well as being skilled with technology, Sarva is experienced in working with clients who struggle with mental health difficulties.
