International Women's Day

International Women's day is a special celebration that celebrates cultural, political and socioeconomics achievement of women across the globe.

This year, we were delighted to finally able to hold a live event face to face at Phoenix Live in Harvey Centre, Harlow. This year’s theme was #BreakTheBias. Sangita Mittra, the CEO of Integration Support Services, hosted the event shedding light on important issues relating to women such as Gender Equality, Reproductive Rights and Violence and Abuse against Women. These conversations are vital for progression and change for all women within societies across the world.

We were honoured to be joined by guest speaker Violeta Sky, who beautifully sang covers her original song ‘Do You Like You’ which highlights how important it is to accept ourselves, as we are, before we can expect others to accept us. Violeta inspired us with her story to success and finding her voice. She followed her dreams and is now a singer/producer and the founder of VskyKids Singing School (www.youtube.com/user/VioletaSky). We were also moved by the words and performance of Shephali Frost, an international musician and a peace campaigner (www.shephalifrost.com ). Shephali emotionally connected us with her beautiful voice, to words of poems by Pakistani, poet Faiz Ahmed, depicting, ‘standing up to dictators and oppression’ These wonderful women brought us the joy of voice and music, mixed with truth and realities of struggle, giving us inspiration to keep looking forward and to never give up.

What a privilege it was to witness all the women in their space, in their essence, glowing their light to guide others. Thank you to everyone who took part in our event and we very much look forward to the next event next year.
