Treasurer Role

As Treasurer, you will join a motivated, talented and committed Board underpinned by strong governance. You will bring experience of operating at a strategic level providing financial oversight, and have charity experience, either through an executive or previous Trustee role. This individual will bring credibility, strong interpersonal skills and share our values.

  • Liaising with and supporting the accounts officer supervising financial accounting and reporting to ensure compliance with the Charity Commission, Companies House and HMRC regulations.

  • Ensuring controls are in place on income and expenditure, and financial regulatory compliance

  • Overseeing income, expenditure and cash flow liaising with the Chair on funding applications requiring financial information and with external auditors/examiners as required.


Chair Role

The Chair will hold the Board and CEO to account for the Charity’s mission and vision, providing inclusive leadership to the Board of Trustees, ensuring that each Trustee fulfils their duties and responsibilities. The Chair is responsible for the ensuring that the charity has high standards of governance. The Chair will also support, and, where appropriate, challenge the Chief Executive and ensure that the Board functions as a unit and works closely with the entire executive team of the charity to achieve agreed objectives.

  • Chair regular Board meetings ensuring effective debate and collective decision-making.

  • Ensure that the Board of Trustees is regularly refreshed and incorporates the right balance of skills, knowledge and experience needed to govern and lead the charity effectively and which also reflects the wider population.

  • Ensure that the Board operates within its charitable objectives and provides a clear strategic direction for the charity.

  • Ensure that Trustees fulfil their duties and responsibilities for the effective governance of the charity.

  • Establish and build a strong working relationship with the Chief Executive, ensuring that they are held to account for achieving agreed strategic objectives.

  • Support the Chief Executive whilst respecting the boundaries which exist between the two roles.


Trustee Role

Reporting directly to the Chair of the Board, this Trustee role sits on the Board of Integration Support Services who are collectively responsible for the governance of the organisation and for all decisions made by the Board. They set strategic direction to the organisation, and are responsible for setting organisational policy, defining targets, agreeing the financial plan, evaluating performance, and ensuring that strong relationships are maintained between the Trustees and the CEO.

  • Act in the charity best interests, ensuring the charity complies with its governance responsibilities, charity law, company law and any other relevant legislation or regulations, and ensuring the effective management of resources and of risk

  • Provide support and constructive challenge to the Chief Executive ensure the delivery of Integration Support Mission and implementation of its strategic plan

  • Attend quarterly Board meetings at  ISS Office in Latton Bush Centre, Harlow  (subject to Covid restrictions)

  • Have oversight of ISS people, culture, and organisational effectiveness agenda as the Chair of the ISS
